Era Enesi Vento, An Artist & Photographer from Turin, Italy
What was the situation in which this photo was taken?
Well, in this pic I was in Berlin on holiday, I had just finished a naked shooting and I decide to stay a little bit alone in a room and try to do some interesting pic myself. Basically when I’m feeling sad I always stay alone with my camera and I try to put my feelings in a pic.
Could you tell us something about what you do?
I’ve already finished the “IIF”, in Milan. That’s a famous photography school. In my spare time, apart from creating wonderful naked pictures, I started to work as a palace’s guardian, cause in Italy it’s really difficult to live on art alone. After my first photo exhibition, in Turin, I have a new project and the tile is “Donne libere” (“Free women”), and if all will go like we hope, you’ll see that as soon as possible.
How did you first become interested in the photography?
I discovered the photography when I was 10 cause I was astonished when I saw a Helmut Newton’s pictures, I didn’t know then, but I understood that this picture influenced me a lot when I got my first camera. While I was taking pictures I was also traveling a lot, and thanks to that, it would give me a way to see. The photography saved me lots of times.
What do you enjoy most about what you do?
The relationship with the photography it’s intense, sometimes nearly obsessive. In the photography I search the for the feel of freedom that I missed every time and everywhere. I love the naked pics and in this close relation with the bodies I want to stop forever, love, life, time, the knowledge of ones own being. For me to take a pic, a naked body it’s like to take a photo of the soul, naked pictures are authentic, this art stops time and in that pic there’s me and that body.
What are you working on at the moment?
On my new project that I said before. The project’s tile is “Donne libere” (“Free women”), and if all will go like we hope you’ll see that as soon as possible.
What are the challenges in what you do, and how do you overcome them?
I really don’t know what are my challenges, obviously sometimes I have fear of something but I overcome that fear by doing it. And of course I have all the people who support me, that appreciate me and it’s for them that I’ll continue to do what I do, I’ll continue to work even harder, promise.
Could you describe your personal style?
Lots of people describe me as a peculiar and strange person, but I can’t judge myself.
What is your present state of mind?
My state of mind actually is lost and scared for my future, but at the same time I’m a dreamer. I have big dreams and I hope to realize all of them even better than my dreams.
What music are you listening to at the moment?
Ludovico Einaudi and Bruce Springsteen. Cause also if I stay in my room I can travel in my mind with them and they help to think about new projects, their kind of music it’s exactly the shape of my soul in the mirror.
Which artists or designers inspire you?
I really love all the types of art but obviously I have some preferences like: As a self portrait’s photographer Francesca Woodman, Nan Goldin, Spencer Tunick, Helmut Newton and Ryan McGinley. They are my inspiration.
What is the purpose of art, in your view?
The art for me is meant to be freedom, feelings and life.
How do you spend your free time?
In my free time I love to dream about new projects, stay with my friends, read, let the music inspire me and then I start to create. Well, basically an artist’s life is without free time cause every moment can be important for having an idea, a place, a hug, hands together, music, all you have to do is to watch, and not just see, to hear and not just to listen.
