What was the situation in which this photo was taken?
I just dyed my hair blonde again and was feeling myself haha!
Could you tell us something about what you do?
I’ve been a freelance model for the past 4 years. Made myself a brand with no help from any management/agency. My main goal as a model is to inspire other models to love the skin they’re in and keep going no matter what.
How did you first become interested in modeling?
I first became interested in modeling when I did my first shoot with a friend. The feedback I got from everyone made me think I could really take it serious and make something out of it. The compliments I received from everyone pushed me to try it out.
What do you enjoy most about what you do?
I enjoy inspiring other young females to go out there and get what they want in life. Never in a million years I would of thought I would inspire anybody. It’s a very humbling and joyful feeling. I’m grateful to have such a great support system.
What are you working on at the moment?
I’m currently working on my big move to New York (yay!), and my model workshops that will be in NYC. Very great opportunity for models who are trying to get those simple shots for their portfolios.
What are the challenges in what you do, and how do you overcome them?
The challenges in modeling for me are being a woman of color (dark skin woman) and having tattoos. It’s very frustrating hearing “we already have someone that looks like you” OR “your tattoos would make it too difficult for us”. I don’t dwell on the situation though, I accept whatever comes at me, keep it moving, and work even harder. I always believe when one door closes another one will open.
Could you describe your personal style?
My personal style is very chill, laid back, classy, and chic all in one. I’m very unexpected when it comes to my style. I like to turn heads everywhere I go whether I’m looking like a cute tomboy, or a top model strutting the runway.
What is your present state of mind?
I’m very relaxed and at ease right now. Life is going the way I want it, and I have no complaints.
What music are you listening to at the moment?
I’m listening to Migos at the moment! Their album is so LITTTTTT !
Which artists or designers inspire you?
Rihanna, Zendaya, and Oliver Rousteing! These individuals put hard work to dust. They take chances and promote diversity, equality, and love in everything they do. With all the fame, they still remain humble and that speaks volume.
What is the purpose of art, in your view?
The purpose of art is to express feelings of any and everything going on within or around you. Art isn’t this way or that way, it’s whatever you want it to be. Everyone on this earth is a walking masterpiece. It’s up to you to show people your vision and make them see what you see.
How do you spend your free time?
I spend my free time eating, napping, watching Netflix, oh and eating some more. FOOD is life!
